Who We Are

We are a team of researchers led by Primary Investigator (PI), Dr. Emorie D. Beck, PhD.

In our work, we address three primary broad research questions relating to personality, health, cognitive function, and development, which you can learn more about on our publications page.

  1. What is personality? Drawing on theoretical and empirical questions, we investigate what personality is.
  2. How do we measure individual differences? The definition of personality you use impacts how personality is assessed. We investigate how different definitions impact our understanding of personality, patterns of change over time, and short- and long-term prediction.
  3. What does personality predict, both short- and long-term? Different definitions impact what personality predicts, and we argue that this tells us a lot about personality, and especially about both its breadth and specificity.
